Crooked

Initiated through an assignment, ’Crooked’ is a reinterpretation of the multifunctional Ulmer Hocker stool by Max Bill for the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) in Ulm, Germany, which is a highlight of both functionalist and minimalist design. Robust, light and versatile, it can be used as a seat, as stool or bench, a side table, a shelving element, a box or lectern when placed on top of a table. The same outer dimensions of the original have been used, in which a sculptural and elegant variation on the functionality is shaped. On one of the sides the edges are diagonally cut into the orthogonal design. This way an alteration of lines is created resulting in a dynamic appearance and play of light and shadow. The stool is made of beech wood.
